What is Search Engine Optimisation?
The process of optimising a website’s content, pages and technical elements to improve the sites overall online presence and rankings within search engines.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a process centered around enhancing a website’s visibility within search engine results pages (SERPs). The primary objective of SEO is to improve a site’s chances of appearing in organic search when users search for relevant information or keywords relating to the site. This involves a combination of strategic approaches and optimisation work both on and off the website.
Keyword research, on and off page optimisation, quality content, a good user experience (UX), a strong local presence (Local SEO) and a powerful backlink profile all play their part in the overall process. SEO is a dynamic and continuous process, adapting to continuous changes in search engine algorithms. A successful SEO strategy will lead to increased organic visibility, attracting targeted organic traffic and improving the overall online presence of a website.

Google Ranking Factors
Ranking factors are used by Google to determine how relevant your web pages and content are when displaying results to a search query.
No one knows exactly how many ranking factors Google take into account when listing web pages organically. 200 is the magic number most commonly thought to be right, but in truth it’s potentially a lot, lot more. With Google continually updating their search algorithms and signals, no one will ever know the exact list. However, we do know that On-Page SEO (with keyword optimisation), quality content, user experience (UX), Technical SEO and backlinks all play an integral part, along with brand and social signals.
We also know that Google want to deliver the best results to their customers. They want to return the most relevant and useful content for each search query. Which means relevance, quality, usability and context are also highly important factors when it comes to a strong organic presence. This is also why a “one size fits all” SEO strategy isn’t ideal. Each site is different and as such each SEO project should be bespoke to that site while taking into account all the factors we know to be important for a successful campaign.
High quality content that is relevant to what the searcher is looking for.
Content that provides expertise, authoritativeness and trustworthiness to the search query carried out.
Content that users find more accessible is more likely to rank better.
